An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. This is the Weekend edition — a simpler package that uses the same quality plastic parts as the higher-tier editions, but without photo-etch or masking film. The real subject is an early version of the P-51D-5 North American Mustang fighter. The kit offers several decal marking options.
The P-51 Mustang is one of the best fighters of the Second World War — it excelled in range, speed, and agility, and it escorted Allied bombers all the way to Germany. The early D-5 version did not yet have the dorsal fin ahead of the rudder, which was added to later aircraft for stability after the bubble canopy was introduced.
Glue the seams with thin liquid modeling cement. Mask the glazed cockpit yourself (the Weekend edition does not include masks; buying some or cutting your own works well). The Mustang's natural-metal finish is best replicated with metallic lacquers over a smooth, primed surface — metallic paint settles at the bottom, so mix it thoroughly and apply it as one of the last layers.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
