A self-adhesive pre-cut Art Scale masking set for a model of the O-2A observation aircraft in 1:48 scale. The double-sided version means masks for the outer and the inner side of the clear parts: you spray the framing from inside in the interior shade and from outside in the covering finish of the airframe. On this type that tells more than on a fighter, because the glazing is extensive and the cockpit can be seen into from practically every side. The set is an accessory for a kit; the model, paints and glue are not in the box.
The difference from the single-sided variant
The single-sided set deals only with the outside and the inner edges of the framing are left to a brush. The double-sided one covers them as well, so the whole frame looks uniform and nowhere does bare transparent plastic show through.
The O-2A is a twin-engine high-wing aircraft with piston engines in tandem, a tractor propeller at the front and a pusher at the rear, and with two tail booms. It came about by adapting a civil touring aircraft and served for observation, liaison and directing onto targets. The extensive cockpit glazing, including the windows in the doors, gave the crew a good view downward.
Work from the inside out: the inner masks, the interior shade, let it dry, and only then the outside. Wash the part beforehand in lukewarm water with detergent and let it air dry. Lay the masks on one at a time with tweezers and press the edges down carefully with a blunt toothpick. Cover the free glazed surfaces outside the framing with tape or masking fluid before spraying. Spray thin coats with a pause between them; a heavy coat runs under. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, with an angled pull along the surface.
The box holds masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not included.
