An add-on engine set for a model of the P-38F/G Lightning in 1:48 scale. Intended for a build with the engine cowlings open.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter with a pair of tail booms and a pilot nacelle in the middle. The F and G versions belonged to the wartime production series. Power came from liquid-cooled Allison V-1710 V12 engines, on this type supplemented by an exhaust-driven turbocharger housed in the boom behind the engine.
Engine parts for a model in 1:48 scale. The set is intended for a build with the cowlings open, that is, for a model that is to be displayed with a view into the engine bay, as you see on a machine under maintenance. Engine parts in kits tend to be simplified because they are expected to stay hidden under the cowlings; a replacement set is worked out to the level of detail you see with an open build.
The parts are not polystyrene and cement for plastic will not hold on them, so use super glue. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest. Wash and degrease the components before painting. Paint and assemble the engine separately from the airframe and fit it in only at the end, otherwise you will not be able to reach it during the rest of the work. Play out the difference between metal, pipes and wiring with a dark wash that brings out the recesses, and with a dry brush along the edges. Consider whether you will leave the cowlings laid beside the model or attach them in the open position.
The set is for modelers who are building a Lightning in 1:48 scale and want to show the power plant. Working with small parts calls for tweezers and patience.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
