Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American twin-engine Lockheed P-38F Lightning fighter in 1:48 scale from Academy. The model captures the early P-38F version with its characteristic twin-boom layout, finely engraved panel lines and clear cockpit parts. Check the exact contents of the box and the range of markings in the enclosed instructions.
The P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter with an unmistakable layout of two tail booms and a central nacelle holding the cockpit and the gun armament. The P-38F version was one of the early combat variants, in service from 1942. Compared with the later and most numerous versions such as the P-38L, it had the early form of engine nacelles and equipment; the Lightning made its name in both the Pacific and the European theater as a fast fighter and long-range escort.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the clear parts with cyanoacrylate. Paint the cockpit before closing the central nacelle; the canopy can be built open and protected with a mask while spraying. Use a primer base and an airbrush; natural metal surfaces come into their own with metalizer over a smooth base, and the panel lines with a light wash. Fit the drop tanks and the external stores only after painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
