A set of resin exhaust stacks for the American Curtiss P-40E Warhawk fighter in 1:48 scale. It is an aftermarket detail part with drilled-out exhaust outlets that replaces the flat or blanked plastic exhausts from a base kit, not a stand-alone aircraft model.
The Curtiss P-40 was an American single-engine fighter of the Second World War with a V12 Allison V-1710 engine. The P-40E version was among the best known and became famous for its service with the Flying Tigers, with their characteristic shark mouth. The V12 engine gave the aircraft its typical lengthened nose shape with side exhausts.
Resin parts call for more careful work than plastic: first wash them to remove mold release residue, separate them carefully from the casting block and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Protect your airways when sanding and cutting small parts. Apply a primer before painting. The exhausts come into their own once painted in dark metallic and rusty shades with the edges lightly picked out; before gluing, check the angle of the stacks dry.
The part is supplied as a resin accessory, unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
