The add-on set 1:48 P-47D-25 Thunderbolt from the Big Ed range by the Czech firm Eduard. A bundle of several photo-etched sets for one aircraft type.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an airplane kit but an add-on set for detailing a model of the P-47D-25 Thunderbolt in 1:48 scale, from the Czech maker Eduard of Obrnice near Most. At Eduard the Big Ed range brings together in one package several sets that are also sold separately, which makes it suitable for a modeler who wants to equip the model in one go rather than buying the individual items one at a time. The exact make-up of the bundle you will find on the box of the particular package.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was the heaviest single-engine fighter of the Second World War. It was powered by a Pratt and Whitney R-2800 radial engine with a turbocharger placed right at the back of the fuselage, which gave the machine its massive, barrel-shaped body. The armament consisted of eight 12.7 mm machine guns. The D-25 block was the first production version with a bubble canopy instead of the earlier spine, so the pilot could finally see to the rear, and it also had a larger internal fuel capacity. It was these machines in particular that were much used in attacks on ground targets over Europe.
Photo-etched parts are trued up before fitting and bent in a photo-etch bender or at least against a sharp edge. It pays to remove in advance, from the areas of the model where the set is going, the relief that the part is to replace. Work in small sections and keep comparing the position with the drawing in the instructions.
