Eduard 1:48 P-47D Razorback SPACE is a set of 3D printed color decals for the cockpit of the fighter in the razorback guise. It is not a kit but an accessory to a model in 1:48 scale.

A set of the SPACE line from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for the cockpit of the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter in the razorback guise, that is with the full spine behind the cockpit. SPACE is neither classic photo-etching nor resin: these are color printed parts with relief, laid on a decal carrier, which are applied straight onto the parts of the kit. The set tends to be backed up by pre-painted steel belts. The result is an instrument panel and side consoles that are both colored and three-dimensional, with nothing to paint.
The Republic P-47D Thunderbolt was an American single-engine fighter with a radial engine and a turbocharger, used in Europe as well as in the Pacific for fighter and attack duties. The razorback guise is the earlier form of the airframe with a full spine and a framed canopy; the later batches received a bubble canopy. The difference between the two forms matters for the choice of accessories as well, because the space behind the seat is shaped differently.
The application follows the rules of a decal, not of photo-etching. The plastic part the decal goes onto has to be sprayed with the base interior shade first, because the color of the undercoat shows through around the edges of the printed area and decides whether the transition will be visible. Then the surface is coated with a gloss varnish, otherwise air is trapped under the carrier film and whitish patches appear. Only the backing paper is moistened with a sponge and a drop of detergent, and the element is lifted off it with tweezers. Do not use a decal softener at all: it acts differently on the thicker printed layer than on an ordinary decal and its chemistry would damage it. Fix the element with thin PVA glue (white glue), because the manufacturer does not recommend cyanoacrylate.
This is an accessory to a kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
