A replacement seat for a model of the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt in 1:48 scale, completed with fabric seat belts and buckles.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Republic P-47D Thunderbolt was among the most rugged American fighters of the Second World War. It escorted bomber formations over Europe and in the last phase of the war came into its own chiefly in attacks on ground targets, where its toughness proved itself. It was built in a razorback version and in the later form with a bubble canopy that opened up the pilot's view to the rear. It is with that one that an open cockpit shows well on a model.
The set brings the pilot's seat, fabric seat belts and the buckles for them. Against rigid parts, fabric belts have one substantial advantage: they can be bent, folded and left hanging loosely over the edge of the seat, so a cockpit looks lived in rather than like a display piece. The buckles are small and finish off the place the eye falls on first when looking into a cockpit.
Finish the cockpit and glue it in before you close the fuselage up, because you will not get to it afterwards. Try the seat and the belts dry first and check that the seat fits your own kit. Lead the belts naturally, that is as a pilot would have left them lying on leaving the machine, and fix them at points with a small drop of super glue; applied along their whole length they would stiffen. Hold the buckles with tweezers and work over a surface with a lip, so that a small part is not lost for good.
The set holds the seat, the belts and the buckles. The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
