Tamiya 25214 is a double set in 1:48 scale: one package holds a kit of the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter with the bubble canopy and of an American quarter-ton light off-road vehicle.

In the package with part number 25214 the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya has brought together two of its kits: the P-47D Thunderbolt fighter-bomber with the bubble canopy as number 61090 and the American quarter-ton 4x4 light off-road vehicle as number 89755. The set has new instructions. The aircraft offers parts for four types of propeller, three types of drop tank and underwing ordnance, two marking options, and flaps that can be built either lowered or retracted. The vehicle comes with decals for a US Army machine.
The P-47D was the largest and heaviest American single-engine fighter of the Second World War. It was powered by a radial engine with a turbocharger and carried eight heavy machine guns in the wings. The late batches were given the bubble canopy on a cut-down rear fuselage, which opened up the pilot's view to the rear. In the last year of the war the Thunderbolt was used mainly as a fighter-bomber with bombs and unguided rockets. The quarter-ton 4x4 light off-road vehicle became known as the jeep and was indispensable on Allied airfields.
The set comes into its own as a single airfield scene. Paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage and mask the bubble glazing. Choose the underwing loads and tanks to match a photograph of the machine you are building. The natural metal finish of some Thunderbolts is the hardest part: it calls for a very smooth base and for the metal shades to be broken up panel by panel.
The models are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
