A resin accessory from the Czech brand CMK in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of an airplane but replacement wheels for the main undercarriage, which are used during the build in place of the plastic parts.
Wheels are among the parts where the difference between plastic and resin shows most. A casting captures the texture of the tread, the lettering on the sidewall and the shape of the rim more sharply, and it is usually cast with the tire settled, that is, with a slightly flattened contact patch, so that the model does not stand on a point on its base. The gluing of two halves of the wheel and the filling of the seam around the circumference are avoided as well.
Wash the parts in warm soapy water, as otherwise the paint will not hold on the mold release residue. Cut off the casting block with a saw at the place that the contact with the ground will later hide, and true the surface up on sandpaper. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection. The wheels are bonded with super glue. When painting, take care that the flattening points downward — with this kind of part that is the most frequent mistake. Paint the tire dark gray rather than black and mask the rim with a circular mask, or paint it before fitting.
This is not a kit of an airplane but an accessory to a model. The set is supplied unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
