This resin accessory from Quickboost in 1:48 scale offers a faithfully cast drop tank for a model of the American Northrop P-61A/B Black Widow night fighter. It is not an airplane kit but an add-on part that enriches the underwing load of a model with a smoothly cast teardrop tank with no parting seam.
The P-61 Black Widow was an American twin-engine night fighter of the Second World War with a twin-boom tail. To extend its range it carried jettisonable drop tanks under the wings. The one-piece resin casting has no seams from gluing two plastic halves together, so filling and sanding fall away and the tank has a clean, aerodynamically smooth surface.
Wash the resin part in lukewarm soapy water because of the mold release. Cut off the casting block with a saw or a knife, sand the surface and protect your airways while sanding resin. Seat the tank on the wing pylons and bond it with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting so that the paint holds on the smooth resin.
It is supplied as a resin accessory for experienced modelers, not as a standalone kit. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
