A decal sheet in 1:48 scale with markings for P-40 Warhawk fighters in service with the US Army Air Forces in 1942 and 1943. The third part of the series.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk is a single-engine fighter with a liquid-cooled V12 engine and with a conspicuous radiator under the nose. In the first years of the war it was the most numerous American fighter, because it was available at once and in large numbers. It was no match for combat at altitude, but it took hard operation from field airfields well and at low altitudes it held its own, so it proved itself in North Africa and over the Pacific alike. The period of 1942 and 1943, to which this third part of the series is devoted, is at the same time the time when the finishes of the machines changed fastest.
Water-slide decals in 1:48 scale with markings for P-40 machines in American army service of the stated period. The sheet supplements or replaces the markings enclosed with a kit.
Finish the model with paint and spray it with gloss varnish, so that the surface is smooth. Cut the feature out as closely as possible, soak it and let it rest for a while, until it starts to slide freely on the paper. Move it into place along with a little water underneath, line it up and blot the excess water away with a soft cloth from the center to the edges. Over ribbing and curved transitions a decal softener helps. Once dry, spray the model with varnish to the degree of sheen you want.
For modelers who build fighters of the Second World War in 1:48 scale. The kit, paints, varnish and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
