PBY-5 Catalina masks 1:48 is a set of painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard for masking the glazed cockpit and other items of a model of this type.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:48 scale for the American Consolidated PBY-5 Catalina flying boat. The masks serve for masking the extensive glazing of the cockpit and the observation blisters, and usually the wheels as well. This is an accessory for a build, not a model.
The Consolidated PBY Catalina was an American twin-engined flying boat of the Second World War, widely deployed for maritime patrol, reconnaissance, anti-submarine work and air-sea rescue. The PBY-5 version was among the most widely used.
The masks are laid adhesive side down directly onto the clean, degreased glazed surfaces and the other items of the model to be masked, the edges are pressed down carefully and the areas between them are covered with tape or with masking fluid. The framing is then sprayed in the airframe color and once dry the masks are taken off. Given the extensive glazing of the cockpit and the side observation blisters, the set saves a great deal of time. The masks are intended for the given aircraft type; the particular kit has to be obtained separately.
Painting masks are not a model. The aircraft kit itself has to be obtained separately; masks, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
