This item is not a model of the tank but an accessory to it. According to the name, Black Dog has put ten resin castings into it, with which the finished hull and turret are filled out with crew equipment, stowage and oddments from combat service. The 1:48 scale matches the established range of German armor, so the set suits any project in which the vehicle should look lived-in rather than like a piece freshly accepted from the factory. The mating surfaces match the hull and turret of the Tamiya 32524 kit.
The Ausf L represented a late stage in the development of the German medium tank. It carried a 50 mm gun with a lengthened barrel, and its recognition feature became the spaced add-on armor on the front of the hull and in front of the gun mantlet. Vehicles of this version served in 1942 in North Africa and on the Eastern Front, and their crews commonly lashed canvas covers, boxes and water containers to the plates.
First wash the castings in warm soapy water so that the mold release residue disappears from the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, not with nippers, which crush resin. Cyanoacrylate glue holds the joints. Before painting it is the turn of a primer, because pigment takes poorly on a bare casting; sanding pays off wet and with the airways protected.
The resin castings come unpainted; paints, glue and the base vehicle are not in the package.
