The 1:48 R-40RD (AA-6 Acrid) missiles (2 pcs) set from Reskit contains, according to its name, two resin R-40RD guided missiles in 1:48 scale. It is an armament add-on to a plastic kit, not an aircraft model.

An accessory set of external stores for modelers who want more accurate missiles under the wing than the basic kit offers. According to the name it is two pieces of the R-40RD missile, in the NATO reporting name AA-6 Acrid. Resin castings hold crisper fin edges and finer surface detail, which shows well on long slender missiles.
The R-40 is a large air-to-air guided missile of Soviet design, intended for interceptor fighters. It was carried above all by MiG-25 machines on underwing pylons. The letter in the designation distinguishes the method of guidance: the RD variant works with semi-active radar homing, the TD variant with infrared homing. On the aircraft the two variants were commonly combined, so when building it makes sense to compare a particular photograph of the machine and to choose the arrangement of stores accordingly.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, cut off the casting blocks with a fine-toothed saw and sand the face wet with respiratory protection. The fins are thin; do not press on them during handling. They are bonded with super glue. Apply a primer before painting; the body of the missile tends to be light and every irregularity shows in a uniform area, so smooth the surface carefully. At the end a thin wash into the seams and light weathering help: on a model the missile is a feature to look at, not a place for heavy effects.
The set is an add-on to a plastic kit, which it does not replace. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the basic kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
