The package by AMMO of Mig Jimenez contains four pieces of the French R-550 Magic guided missile in the first and the second generation form alike, and that in 1:48 scale. The item completes the armament of a model and will not replace an aircraft on its own. Four pieces make it possible to fit the wingtip pylons and the inboard pylons on a single machine, or to arm two smaller models at once.
The Magic is the French answer to the need for a highly agile missile for close combat. It uses infrared guidance and from the start it was built so that it could be hung on the same adapters as its American competition, which opened its way to many foreign users. The Magic II version brought a more sensitive seeker head with a better ability to acquire a target off the axis of flight. Telling the two generations apart on a model is helped by the shape of the forward part and the arrangement of the surfaces. The missile was carried by Mirage F1 and Mirage 2000 machines and by smaller types such as the Alpha Jet, and by a range of export aircraft in Africa, Asia and South America.
With this ordnance the seeker head tends to be optically different from the rest of the body, so prepare separate masking for it. Apply the colored bands that distinguish training from live rounds in as thin a layer as possible, so that the relief beneath them does not disappear. Grip the finished missiles by the body, not by the tail surfaces, which in this scale are very thin.
Paints, glue and an aircraft are not part of the delivery.
