This item is not a kit of an aircraft but an accessory set from the Reskit brand: two air-to-air guided missiles cast in resin in 1:48 scale. The number of pieces in the package is given in the designation itself — the set contains two complete examples. A resin casting offers sharper edges on the fins and a cleaner surface than injection-molded plastic can manage at this size, and it is used as a replacement for the external stores from the box.
Missiles of the R-98 family (development designation K-98) were part of the armament of Soviet interceptors of the 1960s and 1970s. They were fairly large medium-range missiles, carried in pairs on underwing pylons and produced in forms with radar and with infrared guidance. The typical carriers were twin-engine interceptors of the air defense forces. The exact distinction between the individual sub-versions differs between sources, so the designation is kept as the maker of the set gives it.
Wash the resin parts first in lukewarm water with detergent — remains of the mold release agent tend to be on the surface, and paint will not hold over them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, never break them off; sand wet and with respiratory protection. They are glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate glue, as ordinary cement for plastic does not work on resin. Apply a thin primer before painting; a smooth glossy surface suits the body of a missile, because a cylindrical surface shows up every scratch mercilessly. Do the contrasting bands and the nose with masking, not with a brush.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
