A set of cast resin wheels for a model of the American fighter-bomber Republic P-47D Thunderbolt in 1:48 scale. The wheels carry the characteristic cross tread typical of one of the tire variants used on this machine. It is not a kit but a detail accessory for more experienced modelers.
The set usually contains the main wheels with cross tread and the tail wheel, fitted straight in place of the plastic parts. Resin holds sharp relief, so the hubs and the tread look more faithful than in injection-molded plastic. The Thunderbolt's sturdy landing gear is a prominent feature of a finished model.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter rather than breaking them. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Use respiratory protection when sanding, as resin dust must not be inhaled.
This is an add-on set, not a model. The base kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
