A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:48 scale from the British manufacturer Xtradecal, devoted to the hundred-year history of British No. 1 Squadron. Themed sheets of this kind make it possible to build several models of different machines that nonetheless belong to one unit, and so to put together a coherent display case. The product is an accessory for a finished model and contains decals only.
No. 1 Squadron is among the oldest units of the Royal Air Force and has stayed in service across the whole of the twentieth century and beyond. In that time it has passed through piston fighters, subsonic jets and modern types, so the appearance of its aircraft has changed again and again.
With sheets that carry large-area items, such as bands across the fuselage or big markings on the tail surfaces, a different rule applies than with small lettering. Always lift a large decal out of the water together with its backing paper and carry it flat rather than with tweezers, because the film on its own will break under its own weight and stick to itself. On the model, position it on a layer of water and smooth it from the center outward with a soft cloth, so that the air escapes to both sides. Patience pays off: a large decal can be corrected only with difficulty once dry.
The package contains decals only. The model, paints and varnishes are not part of it.
