Romanian Hurricanes 2 — part 2 from Exotic Decals is a decal sheet with markings for the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I in Romanian service. It is the second part of a two-part range and an accessory to a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The second decal sheet of a two-part range devoted to the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I in Romanian service, in 1:48 scale. Part 1 came out on its own and the two sheets complement each other, so with an interest in the whole range of markings it makes sense to get both. There is no model in the package — the decals are applied to a finished and painted Hurricane Mk.I kit in the same scale.
The Hurricane Mk.I belonged to the first generation of British fighter monoplanes with a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and retractable landing gear. Its fuselage had a framework of steel tubes with fabric covering, a construction still inherited from the biplane era, but in the field it meant easy repair of damaged covering. Before 1940 the type reached several foreign users as well, among them the Romanian Air Force. Romanian machines carry different national insignia and a different color scheme from the aircraft of the Royal Air Force.
The basis is a smooth glossy base. Paint the model, let it dry through and go over it with gloss varnish — under a decal on a matte surface air stays and silvering arises, which can no longer be got rid of. Cut the decal out closely, soak it in lukewarm water and wait until the film releases from the paper. Slide it onto the model and press the water out with a cotton bud from the middle toward the edges. Where a decal is to go over rivets, engraved lines or fabric ribs, lay softener on with a brush and let it work without any further touching. Once everything has dried, even the surface out with matte or satin varnish.
An accessory to a model. The kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
