1:48 S-3A/B Viking, EA-3A Shadow BASIC kabuki mask

New Ware 1:48 S-3 Viking BASIC - masking templates

Self-adhesive masks of kabuki tape, die-cut to the shape of the glazing. The BASIC level covers the cockpit and the clear parts, so you can spray the glazing frames sharply and evenly. The masks are made by the Czech brand New Ware.

The real subject

The Lockheed S-3 Viking was a carrier jet aircraft of the US Navy, originally intended for anti-submarine work. Further adaptations for electronic reconnaissance and in-flight refueling grew out of the basic version. The roomy cockpit with a crew of four offers a large area of glazing that has to be masked carefully.

Use and tips

• Lift the parts carefully off the sheet with tweezers and transfer them onto a degreased surface.
• Press the edges of the masks down carefully so the paint does not creep under the tape.
• Spray in thin coats and remove the mask shortly after it dries.
• Before masking, make sure the glazing is clean and free of fingerprints.

Who the set is for

• Modelers who want clean cockpit frames without cutting tape.
• Builders of US Navy carrier aircraft in 1:48 scale.

Paints, glue and the model itself are not included in the package.
