A complete resin cockpit set for the Swedish jet fighter SAAB J-29 Tunnan in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model, but a demanding detail accessory for experienced modelers, which replaces the cockpit from the base kit with a considerably finer assembly. The set brings a faithfully cast cockpit tub, an instrument panel, side panels and the equipment of the pilot's station. It is made by the Czech manufacturer Aires, known for premium resin cockpits.
The SAAB J-29 Tunnan was a Swedish jet fighter from the end of the 1940s, one of the first Western European fighters with a swept wing. For its rounded shape it earned the nickname the flying barrel. It served with the Swedish Air Force and it was also deployed in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Congo. For its time it was a powerful and modern machine.
Wash the parts to remove the release agent and separate them carefully from the casting blocks; count on adjusting, sanding the mating surfaces and testing the fit dry. They are glued with cyanoacrylate; when sanding resin, protect your airways. It is best to paint and weather the cockpit completely before you close the fuselage.
The set does not contain the aircraft model itself; it serves as an accessory to a matching kit. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
