This is not an aircraft model but a detail accessory: a resin set that opens the compartment for the inflatable dinghy in the side of the fuselage behind the cockpit on a model of the SBD Dauntless carrier-based dive bomber. It includes a faithfully rendered compartment interior, the folded dinghy itself and the option of showing the cover panel open or closed. The set is intended for SBD Dauntless models in 1:48 scale.
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was an American carrier-based dive bomber of the Second World War, decisive above all in the fighting in the Pacific. The inflatable dinghy stowed in the fuselage was part of the equipment that kept the crew alive over the sea.
The corresponding part of the fuselage has to be cut out according to the instructions to create the opening for the compartment. Wash the parts to remove the mold release agent, separate them from the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Sand with respiratory protection. The detail comes out after painting and a light shadow accent.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package.
