A resin add-on set with a replica of the Sky Shadow electronic countermeasures pod for models of combat aircraft in 1:48 scale. The casting carries the fine surface structure, covers and antennas that injected plastic usually cannot render with matching sharpness. The set is an addition to the external stores, not a model in its own right. Compare the extent of the package with the illustration on the box before buying.
Sky Shadow is a British electronic warfare pod, that is a device in an aerodynamic casing carried under the aircraft whose task is to jam air defense radars. It was used on Royal Air Force combat aircraft, above all in connection with the Panavia Tornado, and formed a pair with a towed decoy pod on the opposite side of the airframe. From a modeler's point of view it is a prominent elongated store with characteristic antenna covers.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the area down so that the pod seats on the pylon without a gap. It is bonded with super glue, which gives only a short time to position it, so try the position dry first and mark it. It is practical to paint the pod separately and fit it only to the finished model, which saves you masking the airframe. Work through a primer, which will also reveal any small bubbles in the casting. Choose the color scheme and the markings according to the documentation for the particular machine.
