SMB-2 Super Mystère - wheels 1:48 (Special Hobby) are resin replacement wheels with a faithful tire texture and a weighted bulge.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a resin detail set from Special Hobby in 1:48 scale for the French SMB-2 Super Mystère fighter. It is not an airplane model but a set of replacement landing gear wheels. The castings have a faithful tread pattern on the tires and faithful hub detail, and they usually carry a hint of flattening under the weight of the aircraft, so that once the model sits on its landing gear it looks naturally loaded.
The resin wheels replace the simplified plastic parts with more crisply executed castings and better detail. The weighted bulge improves the impression of a standing aircraft and helps the landing gear read properly. The wheels are usually arranged so that they line up with the landing gear legs of the base model.
Wash the castings to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the tires a matte dark gray rather than pure black, pick the hubs out in a different shade and add fine dust and a wash for a realistic look.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin castings. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
