A resin detail part, not an airplane kit. The set brings precisely cast fishtail exhaust pipes (with flattened openings shaped like a fish tail) for the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX fighter in 1:48 scale. It replaces the coarser plastic exhausts from the box with a more accurate resin casting. The part is meant for advanced modelers with resin experience.
On a Spitfire the exhausts are very much in view right behind the engine cowling, and their shape rounds out the character of a particular version. The fishtail type with flattened openings was carried by many of the aircraft powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine; the casting captures the fine edges of the pipes that plastic usually only suggests. Once fitted and painted, the engine section looks markedly more realistic.
This is a resin detail accessory, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
