Eduard Brassin 1:48 Spitfire Mk.VIII - engine is a resin detail set of the Merlin engine and the engine mount for models of the Spitfire Mk.VIII. It is not a model but an accessory for an opened-up nose.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set from the manufacturer Eduard holds the complete Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and its accessories for models of the Spitfire Mk.VIII in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of an airplane but a more demanding aftermarket accessory intended for modelers who want to open the nose up and show the engine compartment off. Round as well as fishtail exhausts tend to be there to choose from.
The Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 with liquid cooling powered most versions of the Spitfire. On the Mk.VIII it was a high-altitude variant with a two-stage supercharger; the engine was placed in the front part of the fuselage behind the firewall together with the oil and cooling systems.
The set counts on the molded engine fairings on the fuselage of the base kit being cut off, which is why it calls for a more experienced hand. Wash the parts clean of the mold release agent, separate them from the casting blocks and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Bring the harnesses and the blocks out with a wash and a dry brush; wear respiratory protection while sanding.
This is an accessory, not a model in its own right. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
