Color 3D-printed cockpit details for the Soviet Su-17M4/Su-22M4 variable-geometry fighter-bomber in 1:48 scale from Quinta Studio. It is not a model of an aircraft but an upgrade accessory with which you bring the interior of a plastic kit to life without the labor of painting.

What it is and how it works

The details are printed by 3D technology onto a thin decal film, so they combine relief and color. The set as a rule holds the instrument panel, the side consoles, the controls and the seat belts. They have no adhesive layer of their own, they hold on a gloss clear coat and they take the place of painting by hand and of photo-etched sets. Do not use a decal softener on them: its chemistry will attack the printed resin and ruin the element.

Use

• Meant for a Su-17M4/Su-22M4 kit in 1:48
• Cut the part out, soak it in lukewarm water for about 15 seconds and slide it off the backing paper
• Keep the surface smooth, clean and coated with a gloss clear coat; a matte one will not hold
• Press the relief layers into the shape of the panels; on intricate places a drop of cyanoacrylate helps
