A set of photo-etched parts for models of the postwar Spitfire F Mk.XVIII in 1:48 scale. It completes the places where injection-molded plastic is too thick for fine detail.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire F Mk.XVIII is a late development form of the Spitfire powered by the Griffon V12. Compared with the wartime versions it received a strengthened wing and landing gear and a larger fuel supply, so it differs from the slim early machines in shape as well: the nose is longer and more massive, and the tail surfaces are larger. This version no longer took part in the fighting of the Second World War, as it reached the squadrons only after it. The letter F designates the fighter form, whereas machines with reconnaissance cameras were listed under the designation FR.
These are photo-etched parts for 1:48 scale. Etched sheet is produced in thicknesses an injection-molded part cannot reach, and it therefore carries a substantially finer drawing. It is used where plastic is too coarse for the scale. Which parts of the model the set covers and where the individual parts belong is given by the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with cutters, so that the thin sheet is not twisted. Make the bends over the edge of a bending tool or a rule, otherwise they will not be sharp. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin in a minute amount, and for larger areas epoxy suits well, because it gives time to line the part up. Before painting, degrease the sheet and lay on a base coat intended for metal. Always try the seating dry first.
The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
