An injection-molded plastic model of the British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb in its mid production form in 1:48 scale from the Czech brand Eduard. This is a better equipped edition, which adds color photo-etched parts and masks for the canopy and the wheels to the plastic parts. The box offers several color options for machines of the Royal Air Force (RAF) and of the US Army Air Forces.
The Spitfire Mk.V was one of the most widespread versions of the legendary fighter, powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 engine. You can recognize the Vb version by its armament of two 20 mm Hispano cannon and four machine guns. The mid production form is marked by the armored glass in front of the windscreen and by the asymmetric bulges on the upper side of the cockpit fairing and the wings. The type served on the European front at the time when the Spitfire reached the peak of its combat effectiveness.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and the color photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The masks supplied make a clean spray of the canopy frames easier. Lay a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush in thin layers; British camouflage rewards emphasis on the panels with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
