The Eduard 1:48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XII TFace masking set holds pre-cut glazing masks for the outer and the inner side of the cockpit of a model of the British fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a plastic model of the Spitfire Mk.XII in 1:48 scale. The TFace designation means that the set deals with masking from both sides of the glazing. Besides masks for the outer surface it also holds masks for the inner side of the glazing, so the cockpit frames can be sprayed with the interior color from the inside and with the camouflage color from the outside.
On a model in 1:48 scale the cockpit gives a good view inside, and an unpainted clear frame seen from within gives away that masking was done from one side only. TFace solves that problem systematically: both sets of masks are cut to the same shape, so they overlap and the transition is crisp on both sides. Cutting inner masks from tape by hand is all but impossible on the curved canopy of a Spitfire.
Degrease the glazing, move the masks with tweezers and press them down with a soft tool all the way around. First mask and spray the inner side with the interior color, and only then seat the part in the fuselage and mask from the outside. Apply the paint in thin coats and take the masks off shortly after it has dried. We do not recommend gluing clear parts with super glue, as its fumes fog them; use a canopy glue or white PVA glue instead.
It is an accessory for a plastic model, not a kit. The model itself and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
