A small resin set from the Swedish brand Pilot Replicas. It represents the tow bar by which the Saab J 29 Tunnan fighter was connected to a tug when being moved on the ground. The accessory is intended for a model in 1:48 scale and on its own it calls for no modification of the aircraft.
The Saab 29 was the first Swedish jet aircraft with a swept wing and in its day it was among the fastest machines in Europe. Its bulky barrel-shaped fuselage earned it the nickname flying barrel. The design came about at the end of the 1940s and built on what was then new knowledge of the swept wing. In Swedish colors it served in the fighter and the reconnaissance role, it also flew in Austria, and units equipped with the type took part in a peacekeeping mission in the Congo.
Thin rod-shaped resin parts will take little bending, so handle them carefully and straighten any warp in warm water. You create a metal look with a dark base and a fine metallic shade, and suggest wear with a dark wash at the joints. Choose a rather muted color; ground equipment tended to be worn by fuel and dust. The bar looks good on a base beside a figure of ground crew.
It is an accessory for a model; you need to have the kit itself.
