A three-dimensionally printed TSPJ pod in 1:48 scale from Eduard. An accessory for the armament and equipment of a kit, not a model in its own right.

An accessory set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard: a three-dimensionally printed pod designated TSPJ in 1:48 scale. The abbreviation refers to a tactical self-protection jammer pod, that is a device for the electronic self-defense of an aircraft against radar-guided threats. It is not a model of an aircraft or a kit — it is a separate store that is hung under a pylon of the base model. Check before buying that the pod matches the aircraft you are building.
Jamming pods are hung on combat aircraft under the fuselage or under the wing and carry their own electronics and power supply. Their task is to disrupt the working of enemy radars and guidance systems, so they are part of the typical equipment of machines operating over defended territory. The shape tends to be cylindrical or angular, with prominent cooling vents and antenna covers, thanks to which the pod is easy to recognize on a model.
Wash the printed part first in lukewarm water with detergent. Cut the supports off with a saw or with cutting nippers and sand the marks down wet with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, or with epoxy. Apply a base coat before painting; pods tend to be set apart from the finish of the aircraft, so it pays to paint them separately and to fit them on a finished model. A weak wash brings out the panel lines.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
