Voyager Model 1:48 Universal Carrier Mk II is a photo-etched add-on set for a plastic kit you already own, not a model in itself. It replaces thick-walled plastic imitations with thin brass parts and takes the finished vehicle beyond the contents of the box. Intended for the Tamiya 32516 kit.

This is an aftermarket set of photo-etched brass in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit: you will find no plastic parts in the package and no vehicle. The set is cut for the Tamiya 32516 plastic kit and serves so that the thinnest features of the vehicle can be built at a real thickness, which injection-molded plastic cannot manage for technological reasons.
The Universal Carrier, also known as the Bren Carrier, was a British light tracked armored carrier of the Second World War period. It was built in large batches in Britain and in the Commonwealth countries and served to carry squads, tow light weapons and perform liaison and reconnaissance tasks. Typical are the low open body, the frontal armor plate and running gear derived from the light tanks of the 1930s.
The main reason to reach for photo-etched parts is the thickness of the material. Brass sheet holds a scale gauge even where a plastic part would have to be several times thicker, so the edges and sheet-metal rims finally look like sheet. Nip the parts out with a sharp knife on a glass surface, make the bends in a bending tool or between the straight jaws of pliers, and never pull them with your fingers. Before gluing, degrease the brass with alcohol and spray it with a primer for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. They are glued with cyanoacrylate dispensed with a pin; on larger surfaces a gel version helps, as it gives time to align a part.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which it does not include. The glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
