Rob Taurus forms its glazing from heated film over a metal buck. The result is an order of magnitude thinner than an injection-molded part and, above all, free of optical distortion, so you can finally see into the bomber's cockpit. The accessory is tied to a model of the Wellington in 1:48 scale in the Mk.IC and Mk.III versions and covers the glazing of the pilot's cockpit.
This twin-engined bomber came from a design by Barnes Wallis and became known for its geodetic lattice structure of light sections covered with fabric. The structure took enormous damage and machines came back with strips of covering torn away. The Mk.IC version flew with Pegasus radial engines, the Mk.III received the more powerful Hercules and became the backbone of the night raids in 1942 and 1943. The Wellington also served with Coastal Command and as a training machine until the end of the war.
First trace the outline with a marker, then release the part with repeated light passes of a sharp scalpel and sand the rest of the edge down on abrasive paper laid on glass. Glue it with a slower-setting super glue, which will not fog the surface. Mask the frames with narrow tape or liquid mask and protect the inner side beforehand, so that no overspray settles on it.
