The Vought F4U Corsair was a carrier fighter recognizable at first glance by its inverted gull wing with its drooped roots. The F4U-1 version is the first production form of the whole family. Because the aircraft also served for launches from a deck, it carried small hooks on the underside of the fuselage by which it was caught on the towing cable of the catapult during a catapult launch. In kits these elements tend to be simplified or missing altogether.

These are very small parts, so work with them over a tray and preferably in tweezers, so that they are not lost. The parts are not polystyrene and ordinary cement for plastic models has no effect on them; glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut off the excess material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand what is left. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting and let them dry. The hooks are fitted before the covering paint goes on, so that the transition on the fuselage does not show.
The set is intended for modelers whose concern is a faithful rendition of the underside of the fuselage, and it suits above all a build of the aircraft in the state prepared for a deck launch. The modification is small, but the result shows up well on a model seen from the side and from below. The set contains only the parts listed; the kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
