Injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter Vought F4U-4 Corsair in 1:48 scale from Academy, in a release with themed markings for the fighting at the Jangjin reservoir (the Chosin Reservoir) in the Korean War. The box contains plastic sprues, clear cockpit parts and a decal sheet with Korean schemes of the US Navy and the Marine Corps. The detail of the cockpit and the landing gear is at a good level.
The Vought F4U Corsair is among the best-known carrier fighters, with its characteristic cranked inverted gull wing. The F4U-4 version was the late, capable form with an even more powerful radial engine and a four-blade propeller. In the Korean War Corsairs excelled as attack and support machines. The fighting at the Jangjin reservoir at the turn of 1950 is among the hardest episodes of the conflict, when aircraft covered encircled ground units.
Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement and sand the wing and fuselage joints carefully. Finish the detailed cockpit before closing up the fuselage and use masks on the glazing. Spray the dark blue naval scheme (Glossy Sea Blue) with an airbrush after applying a base coat (primer). Apply a gloss coat under the decals and refine the weathering with a wash in the panel lines and the light wear typical of machines in service. Pay attention to the engine and the landing gear bays.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
