This universal photo-etched set brings fine discs imitating the wire (spoked) wheels of First World War aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory usable across many models of period biplanes whose wheels had an open wire lacing, often covered with fabric.
The photo-etched discs are fitted into the wheels of a model and faithfully imitate the fine structure of the wire spokes. They replace coarse plastic castings, which cannot capture the thinness of the real spokes, and give the landing gear a period-correct look.
Separate the discs with a sharp knife on a hard surface. They are glued into the rim of the wheel with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) applied in a small amount around the circumference. Degrease them before painting; both the hub and the spoke area come out well with a dark shade.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
