Yak-28P/PP Firebar front-end fan is a resin replacement part in 1:48 from the Quickboost range by the manufacturer Aires. It adds the front compressor stage into the air intakes of a model, so the intakes stop looking empty.

This is a detail accessory of cast resin, not a kit of an aircraft. The content is the front compressor stage of the engine for a model of the Yakovlev Yak-28 in 1:48. On models of jet aircraft the air intakes are among the places where simplification shows most: without a compressor face the viewer sees straight through them, or runs up against a smooth bulkhead. The Quickboost range solves that problem with a single casting that is set into the mouth of the nacelle.
The Yakovlev Yak-28 was a Soviet twin-engine aircraft with a high-set wing and the engines in nacelles under the wing. The Yak-28P version served as an interceptor and carried the reporting name Firebar, while the Yak-28PP version was intended for jamming radars. On both versions the engines were housed in separate nacelles, so their mouths can be looked into from the front and the front compressor stage is clearly apparent on the real machine.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent and remove any release agent. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw and level the surface by sanding wet with your airways protected. The most important thing is the depth of seating: set the part in far enough to match the real distance of the compressor from the mouth of the nacelle, otherwise the engine looks too shallow. Dry-fit it therefore, and spray the inside of the nacelle beforehand, because once the fan is glued in you can no longer reach inside. The blades look best in a darker metal shade with a fine gloss, while the mouth of the nacelle suits a light color.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
