A resin detail part, not an airplane kit. This finely cast resin set replaces the air scoops of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-38 Forger A carrier fighter with vertical takeoff and landing in 1:48 scale. The Forger had louvered lift-engine intakes on the upper side of the forward fuselage, and this replacement captures their faithful shape and louvers precisely. The part is intended for more advanced modelers with resin experience.
The lift-engine intakes are clearly visible on the spine of the fuselage and how they are rendered strongly affects the fidelity of a model. A resin casting offers finer louvers and a cleaner shape than the simplified part from the box, so the distinctive area behind the cockpit looks convincing. Once painted and lightly weathered, the pattern of the louvers stands out.
