1:48 Yak-9D exhaust stacks 3D PRINTED is a resin set of exhaust stacks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, made by 3D printing for a model of the Soviet Yakovlev Yak-9D fighter in 1:48 scale.

It is a small accessory set, not a kit. The contents are exhaust stacks made by the technology of 3D printing from resin, which are swapped for the plastic parts from a Yak-9D kit in 1:48 scale. The main advantage of printing is genuinely hollow ends to the exhausts, which cannot be produced with injection-molded plastic and which tell at first glance on a finished model.
The Yakovlev Yak-9 was a Soviet single-engined fighter of mixed construction with a liquid-cooled Klimov V12. The Yak-9D version was the long-range one; it received an increased fuel supply in the wing and a longer range compared with the basic form. The V12 engine had its exhausts led out along the sides of the front part of the fuselage in a row of short stacks, so it is a clearly visible detail right beside the propeller.
Working with resin. Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent to remove remains of uncured resin, cut the printing supports off with a saw or a sharp knife and finish the area with fine abrasive paper. Sand wet rather than dry, and dry only with protection for your airways. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, because cement for plastic will not join resin. Lay a primer on before painting. Exhausts paint up nicely in dark iron or a graphite shade, onto which rusty and sooty pigments are applied dry. It is advisable to glue them on only after the fuselage has been painted, otherwise they are hard to mask.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package. Before buying, check that the set fits your own kit.
