Eduard 1:48 Yakovlev Yak-9D TFace — a double-sided mask set offers templates for the outer and the inner side of the glazing, so you paint the cockpit frame correctly from both sides.
Responsibility details are not available.
A double-sided mask set for a model of the Soviet Yak-9D fighter in 1:48. The TFace marking means that besides templates for the outer face of the glazing you also get templates for its inner side. The cockpit frame can then be in the camouflage shade outside and in the interior shade inside. The package holds masks, not photo-etched or resin parts.
The Yak-9 was among the most numerous Soviet fighters of the Second World War and was built in mixed construction. The D version carried a larger fuel load in the wing, which extended its range. A model in 1:48 has a cockpit big enough for the inside of the frame to be noticed — with the canopy closed you can tell from above whether the frame is painted on the inside.
Start with the inner masks: stick them on, spray the interior shade and let it dry. Then come the outer templates and the top color. The glazing has to be clean and dry before the masks go on. Apply the paint in thin coats and let it set between them. The inner masks also protect the cockpit from overspray, which helps when the model is finished with the canopy closed. Take them off shortly after the paint has dried, pulling along the edge so that the mask does not lift the paint.
This is an add-on to a model, not a kit in its own right. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
