The set is intended for the cabin of the single-seat YF-23 in 1:48 scale. A layered print with a thickness of its own replaces the hand painting of the instrument panel and the side consoles and gives the cabin depth. It is applied with water, to the parts of a model under construction.
The YF-23 was a single-seat demonstrator that competed for the contract for a new American fighter and lost in the final round. Only two prototypes were built, so the cabin has no production form and differs from ordinary front-line fighters. It is with a subject like this that a ready-made set is valuable: documentation is scarce and a cabin cannot be painted from memory.
A dry test above all
With unusual shapes it pays to cut each piece out first and simply lay it on the dry part. That tells you whether the outline fits, whether it overhangs the edge of the tub anywhere and where the piece will need trimming. Only then go into the water. An order from the largest areas to the smallest also pays off, because a large panel sets the position of everything else. If a piece will not line up, add a drop of water with a brush and let it float for a while instead of pressing it into place.
This is a cockpit accessory, not an aircraft model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
