An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese heavy cruiser IJN Chokai in 1:700 scale from the maker Fujimi. The Full Hull version means the complete hull down to the bottom, with a display stand enclosed for it. The package also contains photo-etched parts for fine details such as railings and other small elements. It is a modern tooling with nicely rendered superstructures.
The Chokai was a heavy cruiser of the Takao class of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The ships of this class were among the most powerful and best armed Japanese cruisers, with a prominent bridge superstructure and strong gun and torpedo armament. The Chokai took part in a number of actions in the Pacific, among them off Guadalcanal, and was sunk in 1944 during the fighting in Leyte Gulf.
Glue the whole hull with the bottom and seat it on the stand enclosed. Finish and paint the superstructures and the gun turrets before fitting the small parts; glue the photo-etched railings and aerials with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting and lay the colors on with an airbrush. The deck and the superstructures are brought out by a fine wash that flows into the engraved lines, and by discreet weathering at deck level.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
