A landing gear set for the Let L-410UVP Turbolet in 1:72 scale. Finer castings replace the legs, the struts and the wheels supplied in the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Turbolet from Kunovice flew for the first time in 1969 and became the most widespread small transport aircraft of the Eastern bloc. The UVP version brought a lengthened forward fuselage, enlarged tail surfaces and a strengthened powerplant; with it the type reached dozens of airlines and armies alike, and a number of machines are still flying today. The high-set wing, the boxy fuselage and the nose landing gear make the Turbolet a subject whose landing gear is visible from every angle.
It replaces the landing gear supplied in the kit with finer castings. The legs, the struts and the wheels are shaped with no parting line and without the thinning that arises when a part is ejected from a steel mold, so they keep their slender sections and sharp edges even after painting.
The set is prepared for models from Gavia, AZ Model, Eduard and Kovozavody Prostejov in 1:72 scale. The parts are separated from the casting blocks with a saw, not with nippers; the cut surface is leveled with a file and degreased before painting. It is bonded with super glue, and on the thin struts a thicker gel version helps, because it leaves a few seconds to adjust the angle.
The finished gear will only carry the model once it stands at the right height and all the wheels touch the surface. It pays to assemble the legs dry, stand the model on a flat board and only then fix the joints. Painting the wheels separately and fitting them at the very end is recommended.
