These pre-cut masks cover the glazing of the Airfix kit and the other areas that are to stay clear after spraying. The modeler saves long minutes with tape and a knife, and the canopy frames come out straight. The word double-sided in the name sets this item apart from the one-sided variant of the same line.
The North American F-86F was the most numerous day fighter version of the Sabre. The single-engined swept-wing jet with a nose air intake and a bubble canopy made its name in the fighting over Korea. The later batches received a wing with increased chord at the root, which changes the shape of the planform and the look of the leading edge.
First free the clear parts of grease and let them dry completely. Lift the parts off the sheet with pointed tweezers and press them to the frame with a blunt toothpick so that no edge stands proud. Apply the paint in several light coats at a right angle to the surface, because a heavy coat seeps under the edge. Remove the mask shortly after it has dried; in an old layer of paint the edge tears. The leftover edges of the sheet come in handy for covering wheels and small lights.
