Hex nut with a bolt, 0.6 mm

An imitation of a hex nut with a bolt in a single dimension of 0.6 mm. The part captures the joint from the side where the end of the shank passes through the nut, so in profile it appears taller than the head alone.

One size for a whole row of joints

A package with a single dimension has a practical advantage over a set with a range of sizes. The builder does not have to decide at every step which part goes where, and there is no risk of two differently sized nuts ending up next to each other on one hatch. You also try the bit out once and then simply drill. With a grid of joints laid out across a surface this uniformity is the main thing the viewer notices, even if they could not name it themselves.

When to install the parts

• Only after sanding and filling are finished; otherwise the fine edges are lost under abrasive paper.
• As a rule also only after the surface the part is to seat on has been painted.
• Drill the hole square and shallower than the length of the shank.
• Meter the glue with a wire into the hole, never onto the nut.
• Keep the remaining parts in a sealable pot, not loose on the bench.
