A sheet with a wall pattern is stuck onto a backdrop, onto the inner partition of a small house or onto the rear panel of a display case. The size is 105x160 mm. The range runs to eight separate numbers, among which you can choose according to the mood of a scene.
Anyone who photographs their models will appreciate that a patterned surface gives the lens something to focus on and at the same time separates a figure from the emptiness behind it. It pays to set the rear wall slightly out of the plane of the shot, so that it stays gently out of focus. Side light then draws the texture out on the surface and the scene stops looking flat. Strong direct lighting, on the other hand, burns the pattern out and the colors lose depth.
Before sticking it down, check that the base is level and free of dust; every speck will show as a bump under a thin layer. Apply the glue flat with a brush and wipe any excess at the edges off at once with a damp cloth, not once it has dried. The finished surface can be fixed with a very fine matte overcoat applied from a greater distance. Test the overcoat on an offcut first, because the solvent can make a thin print bleed. Store the finished wall flat, not rolled up.
