Castings of French MAC 1934 aircraft machine guns for models of the Bloch MB-210, the Potez 63 and other machines in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MAC 1934 machine gun of 7.5 millimeter caliber came from the state arsenal at Châtellerault and in the second half of the 1930s became the standard aircraft weapon of the French Air Force. It fed from a flat drum magazine, fired at a rate of about 1300 rounds per minute and was fitted in wings, in flexible positions and in ventral bathtub positions. It was carried by the twin-engine Marcel Bloch MB-210 bomber and by the whole Potez 63 family, from the fighter and command versions to the reconnaissance 63.11, which in 1940 was the most numerous French aircraft of all.
The castings replace the kit weapons, which on French models are often reduced to a rough plastic pin without a magazine.
The weapon tells above all in open positions, where it can be seen. To make it look metallic, a dark base coat and a fine pass of graphite powder along the edges work well; the sheen is then governed by how much powder stays on the surface. A gun position is also brought to life by a thin wire bent into the shape of a sight bead, or by the tensioning cable that secured the weapon against folding down in flight.
