An accessory set in 1:35 scale for a model of the American M728 Combat Engineer Vehicle, built for the AFV Club 35254 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The M728 engineer vehicle came about by rebuilding the M60 tank into a machine meant not to fight armor but to clear obstacles. A short 165 mm weapon broke up concrete fortifications and roadblocks, a blade at the front pushed earth and rubble aside, and a folding boom with a winch raised loads and tore wreckage out. The crew meanwhile stayed in the armored hull. This combination made the M728 a machine that went with the combat units in the first wave and opened a way for them; the American army had it in service from the 1960s to the 1990s.
The set is intended for a particular kit, namely the AFV Club model with the part number 35254 in 1:35 scale. It offers a replacement for selected parts by finer elements. The extent of the package and the fitting procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so go through them together with the instructions for the kit before you start gluing; some of the work is done at the moment when the hull is still open.
The parts are not polystyrene and cement for plastic will not hold on them; they are fitted with super glue applied on the tip of a wire. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest off. Before painting, wash the parts, degrease them and spray them with primer. An engineer machine will take more pronounced wear than a tank: dust on the underside, abrasion on the blade and on the platforms that are walked on, and greasy traces around the winch.
For modelers who are building the M728 and want to move the level of detail beyond the basic kit. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
